Complaints Are Not Results Until Outcomes Are Published

A responsible-vaping brief asking Alberta to publish complaint outcomes alongside new restrictions.

The gap between intake and outcome

Alberta says its Tobacco and Vaping Enforcement Team responds to public complaints, inspects retailers, educates retailers, and coordinates enforcement, according to Alberta rules and enforcement. The next step is publishing what happens after complaints are received.

What should be reported

  1. Complaint type.
  2. Channel involved.
  3. Response time.
  4. Inspection or referral result.
  5. Repeat-offender flag when applicable.

Why this is responsible

A rule can be strict and still be blind. Published outcomes help the public see whether enforcement is changing conduct or only adding pressure to visible legal operators.
